Four Years Ago Today
There will be memorials and tributes going on all over the U.S. to commemorate September 11, 2001. It's a day that affected just about everyone who I know who was from New York City. We all had friends and or family who died on that day. Some were going to work and some were members of the uniformed services who bravely responded without a second thought. We honor all of their sacrifices. The best way to fight for freedom and justice is to live it every day. That's the best way that we can continue to honor those that were lost.
Hopefully someday soon the area around the World Trade Center will be completely rebuilt, including a fitting memorial to the events of that day and to those who died. The politics of the rebuilding effort are personally disgusting to me. It's hard to believe that after four years there's still just a pit down there. But there is. If we wait for the powers that be to erect proper memorials, we'll all be very old folks. So I've got the memorial living in my heart.
Here's to the fallen.
