Father's Day

Rosetta, Mia and JulietJuliet and I welcomed our second child into the world this past Tuesday in the wee morning hours. Rosetta Dominique Safuto weighed 6 lbs. 2 oz. at birth. She now has her own website at http://www.safuto.com/rosetta.

Rosetta arrived two days after Father's Day. Her arrival reminded me that there is no greater responsibility than that of a parent to your children.  I accept this responsibility with humility. We've had Rosetta at home for a day and I'm also reminded that dealing with two small ones can be difficult. Sleep is not an option at this point!

I am happy to say that so far her big sister Mia is adjusting well to the change. She loves having a cute little baby around even if it means less attention for Mia. In that sense we're very blessed. We're also blessed because Rosetta has been healthy and strong. Mom jumped right in with the breast feeding so there is no shortage of nutrients available.

I'm doing my part by keeping an extra eye on Mia and making sure all the necessities (like shopping, bill paying, cleaning) are taken care of. I have lots more to do though. And that means less time fiddling around on the internet. That's fine with me. The little ones are so important.  I owe it to them to ensure that my priorities are realigned in a way that respects the needs of my wife and my children. Serious talk I know. I'm just reminding myself.

I'm glad to have everyone home. And I look forward to spending time with our new, expanded family over the next few days until I head back to work.
